Based in Folsom, California, Don Kosler serves as a Partner at Allen Austin. Don found his niche in executive search often being referred to as a “connector” as he is relationship-focused with an uncanny ability to meet and connect with people wherever he goes. Don’s focus is on serving others at the highest level be it a client, friend, or someone he just met.

Don spent 23 years in the Home Media Wholesale Distribution Business. Don had the good fortune of working with a privately owned $550 million Home Entertainment Distributor who wholeheartedly understood the value of empowering, appreciating, and leading his employees by example. During his time as the Vice President of Sales and New Business Opportunities Don embraced this opportunity to grow in an executive leadership role. Don’s successes came from his ability to build strong, long-term, and trusted relationships with franchise business owners, their corporate suppliers, and movie studio executives. Within a few years, Don’s team was responsible for more than thirty percent of the company’s overall sales.

Two of his earlier years in the Home Entertainment Business were spent at Warner Brothers Home Media collaborating with major retailers and large grocery store chains throughout the country. This gave him experience with direct retail relationships, marketing plans, and product placement.

Don’s career went international when he spent a few years sourcing Consumer Packaged Goods taking him all over the world including Hong Kong, Germany, and New York. He sourced and placed several products such as Licensed FIFA Brazil World Cup Soccer goods. These licensed goods included the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazil’s World Cup trophy figurine, Fuleco the World Cup mascot, club logoed soccer balls, club soccer jerseys, and many other non-licensed products. After these licensed and non-licensed goods were imported, I secured placement in the following sporting goods locations: Dick’s Sporting Goods, Big 5, Cabela’s, and Champs Sports.

With some strategically applied pressure, strong relationships and a good reputation Don secured Home Entertainment Package Goods Agreements with some major online players such as Walmart.com, Kohls.com, Target.com, and Costco.com.

Don strives to be an active member of his community through his involvement with various charities. Don advocates for Catch Some Air which is a non-profit clothing company whose mission is to help kids with cancer stay happy. He supports Grateful American Coin to help further its mission of honoring and acknowledging the sacrifices of members of the U.S. military. He was a founding Executive Board Member of the SheaStrong Type 1 Foundation where he offered pro-bono guidance, direction, marketing, and promotional advice, and assisted with fundraising to educate the community on, encourage research of, and empower those living with Type 1 Diabetes.

In his free time, Don enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and 19-year-old daughter. They enjoy simple things together like walking their dog, traveling, and Tuesday night taco dinner. He enjoys ocean kayaking, surfing, trail running, and CrossFit.
