Faith Based Organizations

The Faith-Based Organizations Industry has historically performed well in the US primarily due to the high religious inclination of the US population in comparison to other developed countries. Nevertheless, over the past few years, charitable donations and revenue generated by faith-based organizations have become more unpredictable than ever before.

But it is a $157+ billion industry.  “Religious organizations’ revenue has increased at a CAGR of 1.0% to $157.2 billion over the past five years, including a 0.5% increase in 2023, while profit will remain relatively flat at 12.7%. Revenue growth is attributable to higher donation amounts. Decreased revenue might not be representative of declining religious services but instead a decrease in individuals’ ability or willingness to donate to their organizations. Tax policy changes have reduced incentives for charitable donations and resulted in a significant drop in industry revenue in 2018. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act stimulated businesses and individuals, boosting revenue growth in 2020.”  Source:  IBIS World
