Allen Austin enters Hunt Scanlon’s “Top 25” with Global Expansion to Boston

March 3, 2020

Allen Austin, a leading global management consulting firm specializing in retained search and leadership advisory consulting, announced today that it has opened an office in Boston. The firm has added six new partners to its team in 2016, as a part of its global strategy to provide deep industry and functional expertise, as well as broader geographic coverage in order to better serve global clients. The firm climbed to #25 from #31 on Hunt Scanlon’s List of Retained Search and Leadership Consulting Firms, released in April.

Paul Moran will serve as the Leader of Allen Austin’s Global Technology practice located in the firm’s Boston office, and will work with Rod Keller as Technology Co-Leader in our Austin office, to build out our global footprint. Most recently, Paul founded and led his own successful boutique retained search and leadership advisory firm, CapFuze. Prior to CapFuze, Paul spent twenty years with leading retained search firms and has completed hundreds of executive level projects up to and including board assignments.

Paul has over 25 years of experience in executive search and leadership solutions servicing clients on a variety of projects across functions including board selection, general management, professional services, sales, marketing, finance, and engineering. In addition, He has extensive experience in the use of analytics in search, the design of “employer marketing” solutions and the use of advanced assessment for individual and team performance as well as in M&A support.  Paul was recently recognized by the world’s fastest growing IT and staffing firm for “Innovation and Thought Leadership” for the use of technology in executive search.

Paul has also served in senior partner and practice leadership roles for other top-tier international search firms including Korn/Ferry International and Heidrick & Struggles and has completed hundreds of executive level projects in his career. He was also the Vice President of Management Recruitment for what was the second largest venture capital firm in the world where he led a team responsible for executive recruitment services for the firm’s portfolio companies.  Earlier in his career, Paul was Director, Business Development for Arthur Andersen, LLC.

Paul was awarded a BS in marketing from Marist College. He serves on a variety of boards for not-for-profit organizations.

“I’m going to white paper the experience and how I ended up at Allen Austin. The firm brings perfect synergy for what I was doing with my clients at CapFuze.  My first conversation with the CEO and Chairman, Rob Andrews turned immediately to a global need for enhanced hiring, retention and engagement and leadership strategies. The market has indeed changed during recent years and clients really gravitate towards advanced assessment techniques, scorecard models for evaluation and selection and the use of analytics and technology, for predictive performance of executives and teams and the resulting impact on growth and shareholder returns.  Allen Austin’s TPL Solutions are the best Leadership Solutions I have seen in a search or leadership consulting firm and something I was lacking at CapFuze.  I loved the fact that they were built by experts hired directly from the consulting industry versus purely homegrown and even more intrigued at how they actually use them in-house.  The leadership team is very much on the same page and lives their solutions.  Allen Austin is definitely a firm that I can continue to learn and also provide solutions to clients that have enabled our own growth.

Every firm I have spoken too has told me the same thing, “we live what we preach and our process is better”.  Austin Allen is literally the only firm I found that truly had a packaged solution that did differentiate for clients.  In addition, it is the only firm where there is zero question that the culture permeates and I will be welcomed to both contribute and learn.  That may sound like rhetoric to some because it is hard to really describe the experience.  I’d challenge any other firm to show that level of efficiency”, Paul said.

Rob Andrews, newly elected AESC Americas Council Member, Founder & CEO of Allen Austin said this: “Paul Moran is one of the finest professionals we’ve encountered. Our biggest challenge is finding search and leadership consultants who get what we’re trying to do, and appreciate it. For many years, Paul has been using innovative technologies to improve the effectiveness and speed to the search process. He will add huge value to both our search and leadership advisory practices. Paul fits in perfectly and will be an integral driver in helping us enhance the lives and effectiveness of our clients and leaders of the world.

We began a deliberate and challenging transformation of Allen Austin in 2013, which continues to gain momentum toward fulfilling our vision of becoming the world’s premiere consulting practice focused on helping business leaders build highly successful organizations that create exceptional value.  Total Performance Leadership (TPL) has evolved in to the most effective architecture we’ve seen to date, to help leaders build exceptional organizations and outperform their competition. Every consultant we hire, every opportunity we evaluate, is in support of our commitment to enhance the lives and effectiveness of the world’s leaders”.

Tom Fritsch, President of Allen Austin and Co-Creator of Total Performance Leadership said this:

“When Rob Andrews and I joined forces in 2012 we shared a commitment to build a very special practice. We were very deliberate about discovering and articulating our core purpose, shaping our vision, defining our core values and laying out a plan to build a firm with the high performance culture we knew was needed to fulfill our vision and perpetuate our purpose. Since then the journey has been amazing. Along the way, we have discovered that our purpose – who we are and what we are committed to – is an excellent filter for helping us find people who thrive in our culture. I have no question that Paul Moran is one of those special folks who get excited when they learn about what we are up to. When I interviewed Paul we spent about 90 minutes on the phone with each other. When I got off the phone with him I felt like I had known him for years. Paul is the real deal – authentic, bright, creative and, most importantly, committed to making a difference for clients. I am thrilled that Paul is joining the Allen Austin team, because we are going to do great things together.”
